to you by verizon fios. this is 9news now. >> good evening, everyone. i'm surae chinn. derek and anita are off tonight. we begin this evening with the story of a hero. marine sergeant bill care. he was killed by enemy fire yesterday in afghanistan. it was the terror attack on 9/11 that led sergeant care to join the marines. he was well into his 30s with a successful career and comfortable life but he felt the need to serve and tonight digital correspondent james hash spoke with the sergeant's family in alexandria. >> he was a son that every mother and every father would be happy to have. >> reporter: john care s his son. united states marine corps sergeant bill care killed while serving in afghanistan. >> he was the kind of young man evo was loyal and faithful to erything and everybody that he was involved with. >> repoerad: gr a teuaof penn ststtehe worked as a senate r feafbefore beginning a fe

burning home stabbing himself. we also have an update for you now on a story we first told you about last night at 11:00 p.m. that car accident involving michael phelps. police say a woman ran a red light and hit michael phelps' cadillac in baltimore. police are citing michael phelps for driving with an expired out of state license. no one was hurt in that crash. this sunday on 60 minutes michael vick sits down for his first interview since leaving prison. it was taped before the quarterback signed with the philadelphia eagles. james brown asked michael vick if he felt after two years behind bars he is ready to play? >> two years is not a long time. i still run just as fast and throw the ball just as far as i did before i left. still have the same quickness. i know how i feel when i'm in tip top condition and i train now and i never trained before. >> the interview is sunday night at 7:00 p.m.

72 in chantilly. 60s and 70s tomorrow with light winds. by afternoon partly cloudy. very warm. not quite hot. isolated thunderstorm possible. high temperatures in the upper 80s and winds southeasterly at about 10. cooling off for now. remember monday we started out at 97. fell to 93 on tuesday. we have leveled out at 87 wednesday, thursday and friday. that is average. we will be heating up a little bit over the week. 89 tomorrow. 90 on sunday. low 90s monday, tuesday and wednesday of next week. and that actually may be a little bit low. we may actually be in the mid- 90s by tuesday of next week. a nice summer weekend though, really. very warm on saturday. little bit hot on sunday. only isolated thunderstorms and it will turn hot next week. not 97 crazy hot but it will turn hot next week. satellite picture radar combined. we will zoom in to the southeast. a lot of areas now we are worried about in terms of tropical development. some showers and thunderstorms off the coast. there is a low probability of

>> a british rowing team was churning through a remote part of the irish sea to raise money for cancer victims when another kind of victim literally fell out of the sky. a pilot crash landed his ultra light plane about 2 miles from their boat. >> we rowed against the waters. as we were getting closer we can just see the tail out of the water. >> so the rowing team radioed for help. a coastguard helicopter soon arrived and got the pilot from the water. he is recovering from cuts and bruises. that's a pretty bizarre scene when you're out rowing, huh? >> the guy that crashed won the lottery. the odds of that are unbelievable. like the hat that the guy was wearing rowing. >> in tonight's living well segment a warning for diabetes patients. the fda says certain blood
